The Little Bird in Uptown Park
This is a superb upscale consignment and retail store in Uptown Park; think Hermes, Chanel, Valentino, among others. They have a curated collection of separates, jackets, dresses, denim, shoes, and ahhh-mazing handbags. Their pieces are on trend and sophisticated at a fraction of retail so if you’re looking for a luxury item at a great price, run, don’t walk.
Crossroads Trading in the Rice Village
Definitely for a trendier and younger clientele; they carry Madewell and Anthropologie brands as well as Zara and similar. They do have a designer section and while higher end than the brands I listed above, they’re still affordable but maybe not quite true luxury pieces. They so carry activewear, denim, and lots of gently-used shoes. Cute and on-trend, a fun stop if you’re in the area.
Pavement and Leopard Lounge on Lower Westheimer
These neighboring Montrose shops are on the funky side but depending on your style or what you’re shopping for, you can definitely find a treasure. Both stores carry TONS of denim but instead of L’Agence or Mother Denim, think vintage Levis and Lee jeans with a few designers thrown in the mix. My daughter found 80s lavender Gloria Vanderbilt (my middle school faves) at Pavement. Pavement also carries tons of sneakers, think Air Jordans. While both are super fun there is a slight difference…
Leopard Lounge has a large collection of vintage concert tees (although pricey) and have true vintage clothing spanning decades, starting from the 1920s. Here you can find vintage letterman jackets, boudoir sets and everything in between. Their staff is helpful and knowledgeble about their pieces.
The Guild Shop on Dunlavy in the Montrose
From my daughter’s vintage Diane von Furstenberg and Trina Turk finds to my vintage Limoge china and Murano glass bowls scores, this shop has it all! Make sure you’re not in a rush because here you’ll find furniture and art, antique silver and crystal, outdoor furniture and patio architectural pieces. They have a designer clothing and accessory selection as well as a big selection of jewelry. If you come on a weekend, pack your patience while waiting in line, this is a popular spot but for good reason.
Have fun (if thrifting is your thing) and know that sustainable shopping is great for the planet, great for your wallet, and just a fun time! Happy thrifting!
