2025, Let's Do This!

If you’re looking for some tips to get started on your New Year’s organizing projects, you’ve come to the right place! Read on for some simple and practical tools…

Decluttering Tips

  • Start small: Pick a drawer, shelf, or a corner to avoid getting too overwhelmed and allow yourself to build on the momentum

  • Use the “one year” rule: If you haven’t used an item in a year, think about letting it go (except for seasonal or sentimental items)

  • The Four Box method (or hampers, bags): Keep, Donate, Recycle, Trash and sort accordingly

  • Let go of duplicates and keep the best item you have multiples of (ie. office supplies, kitchen utensils, or beauty tools)

Organizing Tips

  • Create zones: Group similar items together and give them “homes” kept in the area that they’re most frequently used

  • Maximize vertical space: Use shelves or hooks free up more surface area resulting in more space

  • Use labels: Not only does this make items easy to locate, it makes them easy to return after use (key!!)

  • Utilize storage bins, baskets, and drawer dividers to keep things tidy and give you parameters (if a bin is full, maybe we don’t need to buy more)

  • Plan for maintenance: Even the most organized among us need to routinely tidy and evaluate our spaces and systems

Mindset Tips

  • Set clear goals: Determine your reasons for decluttering and getting organized (More space? Peace of mind? Functionality?)

  • Focus on keeping items that genuinely make you happy and that serve a purpose for your daily life

  • Celebrate progress big and small! Starting small and building on momentum (mentioning this again for a reason) is a great way to continue the process and your progress!

Again, these are some basic tips to get started. I have more detailed tips and tricks here if you want a little bit of a deeper dive and as always, I'm here if you need professional help! Always wishing you the best! xo
